A distinctive feature of our church is that the Lord's Supper (communion) is part of every Sunday worship service.

Are you a first-time visitor? We encourage you to read our First-Time visitor information below.

First-Time visitor information:

  • Clothing: You will feel appropriately dressed if you dress respectfully. If it concerns you, and you wish to be sure your attire is okay on your first visit you may want to wear attire that could be called "casual dress". Our members do wear clean, respectful, non-showy, non-distractable attire. Formal attire does not usually appear in our congregation except for very special occasions. Jewelry is not prohibited.
  • Promptness: Please plan on arriving in sufficient time to enter the sanctuary and find seating. We recommend arriving 15 minutes prior to the beginning of the service.
  • Parking: Parking is provided on the West and East sides of the facility. Parking is free.
  • Main entry: The main door is on the West side of the facility.
  • Restrooms: There are four restrooms in the building. Two are conveniently located by the Sanctuary. As you approach the sanctuary, the mens' restroom is just to the left and the womens' to the right.
  • Nursery: Nursery is provided for ages 0 to 3 during the Bible Study and the worship service. Nursery is free. Click here for more information.
  • Children: If your child is older than nursery age (3 years old or older), please have them enter into the sanctuary with you. About fifteen minutes into the service, the Pastor will announce an opportunity for children ages 3 to 10 to be dismissed with other children to attend Worship and Wonder. You may choose to have the children remain with you in the service or for them to depart to participate in the children's activities.  Click here for more information
  • Which Bible version do you use? In the sanctuary, you will find Bibles on the back of each pew. These "Pew Bibles" are in the New International Version (NIV). The Pew Bible is typically the one being read during the "Call to Worship" portion of the service. Everyone, however, are free to read any version of the Bible they wish.
  • Following along during the service: As you enter the sanctuary (the main room we use for our worship service), one of our greeters will hand you a tri-folded bulletin which contains the format for the service. The way we do our service may be new to you: The service moves along quickly and involves a bit of attendee response and participation -- indicated in the bulletin.
  • Will I have to introduce myself in front of everyone? The answer is "maybe". During the "Welcome/Church In Action" portion of the service (just following the Praise songs), the pastor will look out over the crowd and invite visitors to introduce themselves. She may even look right at you... but you may look right back and decline by not speaking up or by remaining seated. We totally understand.. but, if you so choose to introduce yourself, we would love to know your name and from whence you come.
  • Guest book: A guest book is located in the Narthax (lobby), plus in each pew we have gray-covered notepads in which persons attending may choose to write their names. Members and guests are encouraged to enter their names as it is one way we keep account of our attendance.
  • Lord's Prayer: We will say the Lord's Prayer (the "Our Father") during the service. These are the words we use: "Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our TRESSPASSES as we forgive those who TRESSPASS against us. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen" As you see, we use the word "trespasses" instead of "debts".
  • Offerings: An optional offering (donation) is collected during the service. Deacons stand and pass "offering plates" around. People are free to put a monetary offering into the plate as the Lord leads.
  • Communion (also called "the Lord's Supper"): Communion usually happens toward the end of the service. All followers of Christ are invited to partake of communion. During communion time, everyone remains seated while the bread and cup are passed. Once you have your bread, you may eat in your own time prior to all of us partaking of the cup/s together. When it is time to drink the cup, the Pastor will lead into it by saying something after which you will see everyone drinking -- this is your cue to drink. Your empty cup may go into the little, wooden, circular "holders" you'll see on the back of the pew in front of you.
    • The bread (sometimes called "the body"): Our communion bread is typically unleavened rice wafers or small crackers. Occasionally we will use leavened bread. Please inform us if you you require a substitute bread due to dietary restrictions. Advanced notice for substitutions needed.
    • The cup (sometimes called "the blood", or "the wine"): The communion liquid is unfermented red, grape juice. Please inform us if you you require a substitute liquid due to dietary restrictions. Advanced notice for substitutions needed.
  • Free Food and Fellowship: After the service, we have food and fellowship ("mingling" or "socializing") in the Fellowship Hall (see layout of facilities below). PLEASE join us. The food may be either a snack or a potluck.
    • Snack: Snack time fellowship is not a formal occasion. During this time, we simply sit or stand about and yack for about a half hour to an hour (or whenever they kick us out) while consuming whatever treats or beverages are available -- typically sweet, baked goods and coffee, tea, and juice.
    • Potluck: If you came on a Potluck day, please join us -- there's always much more than enough food to go around. Prior to getting in line, we will all gather in the Fellowship Hall and the Pastor will lead us in a prayer of thanks and blessing. We then get in line and help ourselves to the delicious selection of food. Everyone may sit where they like. There is no reserved or "special" seating.
